In the «Who Are These People» section, Vector offers founders the opportunity to discuss their projects, covering topics such as their products, marketing strategies, monetisation, investments, and plans. In this edition, the spotlight is on Getmany, a Ukrainian startup team. Their tool helps agencies acquire clients on Upwork 24/7 and eliminates the need for teams to generate leads by hand.

Acting editor-in-chief Yuliia Tkach interviewed Getmany’s CEO and co-founder Kyrylo Kozak, discussing the product’s features, progress, investments, and further plans.

How the idea was conceived

Getmany has two co-founders:

  • Kyrylo Kozak, CEO. He has 15 years’ experience in software engineering and 10 years’ experience in sales, team building, and consulting for agency owners. Over the course of a decade, he established two agencies on Upwork.
  • Vitalii Drozhdin, CTO. With over 15 years’ experience developing IT platforms and startups, he has successfully launched more than 200 projects.

Kyrylo Kozak came up with the idea of Getmany in 2023. By that time, he had been working with Upwork for over a decade, initially through the agency Serverless and later with Lambda Team. He says that he has seen up close the challenges the owners of Ukrainian agencies face on Upwork.

«When Vitalik was 13 and I was 15, we started developing mods for Counter-Strike and Minecraft. Later, we established a design studio focused on the Ukrainian market. After that, we made the decision to enter the US market and start specialising in developing websites with WordPress.

I started actively consulting a few years ago when agency founders reached out to me about working on Upwork. After a while, I found myself noticing that the requests were all pretty similar. They were about profile optimisation, working with algorithms, and writing cover letters. I came up with the concept to develop a product that would address these requirements and help agencies automate these tasks on Upwork. This is how Getmany was born».

The team currently employs 13 people, including nine developers, HR and content managers, and a customer service specialist: «Nearly all of them arrived without much experience, and we trained almost all of them up ourselves. We depend on each other».

Product and audience

Kyrylo describes Getmany as a B2B SaaS application that enables agencies to more effectively attract clients on Upwork than through manual lead generation. Getmany’s bidding (or posting jobs) feature allows agencies to customise cover letter generation. This functionality helps users automate their job posting strategy as part of their search.

«You choose the submission timing and the date, create cover letters (either template or AI-generated), respond to customer inquiries, initiate the search, and monitor the submission progress».

JSE (job search engine) is another key element of the product. It is designed to optimise prospecting by matching projects with your agency’s expertise and project requirements, saving time and resources when acquiring new clients.

To do this, you apply filters based on your skills and budget and establish a minimum hourly rate and/or fixed price for the projects you seek. These filters can apply to the project duration, client type, and the size of businesses from which you’d like to receive orders. From there, you can start the job hunt», —Kyrylo explains.

The product is still in its initial phase, but it already counts more than 60 Ukrainian agencies among its client base. Kyrylo points out that Getmany eliminates the need to manually bid for jobs on a daily basis, replacing it with a better performing automated system with greater speed, customization, and reach.  As a local business, the team is looking to expand to Western markets.

Business model and marketing strategy

As a B2B SaaS product, Getmany offers various subscription options: Light, Pro, Pro Plus, and Custom. The Light, Pro, and Pro Plus plans offer comparable features, including a bidding tool utilising two distinct AI models, job analytics, the ability to track replies and view rates, as well as performance statistics. They vary in the quantity of available credits (local currency is used to post jobs) and the price of extra credits. Prices are not publicly available — they can be accessed through the product demo.

The Custom plan includes a personalised development plan, strategy consulting, and account manager assistance.

«I can promote my product quite naturally and effectively, primarily leveraging the community in my Telegram channel. People come to us for relevant and practical insights related to Upwork, AI, and sales, only to then become our clients».

Investments

«I have been building this startup from the very beginning using the funds I made from a decade of experience outsourcing and outstaffing on Upwork. We invested $60,000 in the startup’s MVP and have been testing on with multiple users for six months. Our product’s final beta version cost over $150,000. We are actively considering proposals from interested investors», — the founder stated.

Plans

«We intend to completely automate the lead generation process on Upwork. Naturally, we wish to provide our clients with a wider range of tools as soon as possible. We have a two-year roadmap on Upwork, and we also plan to utilise our expertise to implement lead generation on other platforms», — Kyrylo concludes.
